Yvan Vandenplas
- Prof. Yvan Vandenplas completed his medical studies at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and trained in pediatrics (1981-1986) at the same university
- He became the Head of the Unit for Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition in 1987 and created the Pediatric Hospital, the "KidZ Health Castle," at the Univerity Hospital Brussels (UZ Brussel).
- Defended his Ph.D. thesis on "Esophageal pH monitoring for Gastro-Esophageal Reflux in Infants and Children" in 1991
- Founder and current consultant at "KidZ Health Castle", at the University Hospital Brussels (UZ Brussel) of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel
- Chair of Pediatrics at the same Institution from 1994 to 2021
- Associate editor of Nutrients
- Main interests are functional gastrointestinal disorders such as gastroesophageal reflux, colic and constipation, infant nutrition, focusing on probiotics, prebiotics, and cow's milk protein allergy
- Authored over 500 publications listed in Pubmed and presented over 1000 talks at diverse international meetings
