Today’s global health problems require that we manage the persistence of malnutrition and infectious diseases in some parts of the world as well as the epidemic of noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) that has accompanied the social and economic development of nations.The double burden of under- and over-nutrition, in its various forms, affects those countries that contain the majority of the world’s population, with long-term health and major economic consequences.
