In this presentation, Flavia Indrio gives an update on research into Lactobacillus reuteri and its use in the management of regurgitation and colic in newborns.  Detailing the extensive literature on probiotics and infantile colic, she concludes Lactobacillus reuteri is the most studied strain, with positive effect on the management of infantile colic. A recent study have also shown that probiotics could represent another therapeutic option for managing regurgitation, together with parental reassurance and a thickened formula.  The only strain studied is Lactobacillus reuteri DSM 17938, and it shows good results so far.
