After a few years in skin cancer research at the Swiss National Research Cancer Institute, he joined Nestlé in 2007 to work in probiotic research and took over the management of the Nestlé Culture Collection in 2009
Since then, he got passionate about all the wonders that beneficial microbes can accomplish
As a Senior Scientist, his field of research includes probiotics, but also food fermentation and the genetics of those microbes
In 2024, he took over the head of the Applied Microbiology research group at Nestlé Research, which hosts and exploits the Nestlé Culture Collection, the central repository of all microbes used in Nestlé for Research & Development
The research activities of the group focus on three main pillars; probiotics, food & next generation fermentations
