Prof. Mark Johnson is Professor of Child Health at the University of Southampton and Honorary Consultant Neonatologist at Southampton Children’s Hospital, University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust. He graduated in Medicine with Honours from the University of Southampton and completed a PhD funded through a prestigious NIHR Doctoral Research Fellowship.
His research focuses on the nutritional care and growth of preterm infants, as well as the implementation of evidence-based practice to improve neonatal outcomes. He has authored numerous scientific publications in these fields.
Prof. Johnson is a member of the ESPGHAN Committee on Nutrition, Chair of the UK Neonatal Nutrition Network (N3), and a member of the Nutrition and Gastroenterology Section of the European Society for Paediatric Research (ESPR). He has contributed to several national and international guidelines, including the recent ESPGHAN guidance on enteral nutrition.
He serves as Editor for Archives of Disease in Childhood: Fetal & Neonatal Edition and the Journal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition.
