Long term human and economic impact of early child inadequate feeding

According to the WHO, 45 percent of child deaths are linked to malnutrition. Roughly 6.8 percent and 22.3 percent of children under five years are affected by wasting and stunting in the year 2022. Stunting in particular has long-term consequences in terms of cognitive and physical damage, relating to poor future economic and educational outcomes. On the hand, 5.6 percent of children are affected by overweight and obesity in the same year, increasing their risks of non-communicable diseases. With this, proper nutrition, especially exclusive breastfeeding in the first 1,000 days is emphasized to prevent stunting and ensuring proper growth and development.
