Growth & Development

Healthy food consumption patterns in early childhood support optimal growth and development. The 2016 FITS US study showed that children ages 2-4 years generally consumed grain foods (95%), protein foods (88%), milk (81%), and fruit (77%) and some vegetable (73%) on the day of the survey. However, 90% consumed sweets, sweetened drinks or desserts and 19% consumed fried potatoes, illustrating that improvements are still needed.
