Our world is rapidly changing. Increasing food consumption by a growing population, together with changing dietary habits, pose an immense challenge for the global food system. Our food system is one of the most complex systems that humans have devised. The complexity and interlinkages of the food system brings opportunity. Industry can take a positive role in the transformation of the food system. The first thing to acknowledge is that change is needed by industry and that it has already started to some extent. The most focus to date has been on continuous improvement of our own operations including factory emissions, water, human rights, waste reduction, responsible sourcing of raw materials, but there are still space for other sort of transformational change industry can either lead or support.
