Immunological and microbial effects of HMO in experimental models of food allergy

Allergy Gut Microbiota

Dr Nutten outlined the four primary ways in which HMOs support the infant immune system. She went on to describe two pre-clinical studies: the first looked at the impact of 2’-fucosyllactose and 6’-sialyllactose on food allergy symptoms in an experimental mouse model and the second analysed oral administration of 3’-sialyllactose in two different mouse models of atopic dermatitis. Dr Nutten also examined unpublished pre-clinical results obtained at Nestlé Research, which looked at the immunological and microbiome effects of HMOs.
