Extensively hydrolyzed formulas (eHF) play a major role in the management of cow’s milk protein allergy. There is however no generally accepted definition of eHF’s. It has been suggested that a high degree of hydrolysis is desirable but further quality control elements are needed to ensure consistently clinically safe products.
