The global increase in the prevalence of diabetes and its complications has made prevention and control of diabetes a top public health priority. In the feature article entitled” Importance of  Nutritional Management of Comprehensive Diabetes Care” of this issue of Clinical Nutrition Highlights, Prof. Alice Kong and Prof. Juliana Chan have discussed the burden of diabetes and its related comorbidities, the importance and multifaceted role of medical nutritional therapy (MNT) in diabetes management as well as its controversies and challenges in clinical practice. They suggested that all team members of the multidisciplinary diabetes management team should be aware of the importance and be equipped with knowledge to help patients to implement MNT as part of their comprehensive diabetes treatment plan.
