While drug treatments are invaluable for many patients, we must not fall into the trap of thinking that they represent the only solution to the problem. Dietary approaches will always play an important role and can be highly effective at achieving and maintaining remission in Crohn’s Disease (CD)  patients. Dietary therapeutic strategies have been proven to be effective in clinical trials, but they will only help patients in the real world if used with the correct level of support.

Crohn’s Disease Exclusion Diet (CDED) requires intensive support and guidance to ensure adherence, particularly in the earliest stages. New discoveries have demonstrated how dietary therapy can transform the microbiome, helping to prevent relapses. For patients with the most complex and recurrent conditions, we must not overlook dietary therapy as a powerful tool, whether used alone or in combination with other therapies.
