By 2050, the global population will increase 20%. To feed this huge population, food production will have to more than double. Considering the  current food system and diet standards, there will not be enough land on the planet to produce enough food for the population. Plant-based diets with fewer animal source foods commonly provides more fiber and less saturated fat and confers both improved health and environmental benefits. However, indiscriminate recommendations to increase plant-based foods may lead to unintended dietary consequences. Is therefore important to equally consider nutrition and environmental impact of any dietary shifts.
