Human Milk Oligosaccharides Confer Resistance against Inflammation-mediated Intestinal Epithelial Barrier Dysfunction In-Vitro

Gut Microbiota

Human milk strongly influences the early life development and functioning of the intestinal epithelial barrier. Perturbations in the intestinal barrier plays a role in many infant diseases such as infections, allergy and necrotizing enterocolitis. This abstract investigates the efficacy of the human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs), an important component of breast milk, to reduce susceptibility against inflammatory-induced epithelial barrier dysfunction.
