More studies have shown that preparations for a healthy nutrition in pregnancy has to start prior to conception, at the same time it has become more evident that a pregnant woman being overweight, is just as detrimental in terms of the infant development as nutrient-deficiency. Another pressing issue is the development of allergies among children, however there has been a shift to building tolerance as compared to avoiding allergens, at the same time, human milk oligosaccharides or HMOs have shown promise in its role in allergy prevention and in the positive effects of breastfeeding.
