Summary

Brain glucose uptake is about 10% below normal in Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) and deteriorates further in Alzheimer disease (AD). The objective of the randomized, placebo-controlled Benefic trial was to assess whether counteracting the brain glucose deficit with an Oral Nutritional Supplement containing a ketogenic medium chain triglyceride (kMCT-ONS), BrainXpert Energy complex, could improve cognitive performance over 6 months in people with MCI.
