Cannabidiol – a new active ingredient for topical use

Summary

Hemp has many biochemical compounds of interest. The most abundant and well-researched non-psychotropic phytocannabinoid is known as cannabidiol or CBD. The endocannabinoids are a part of a widespread neuromodulatory system that plays important biological roles called the Endocannabinoid System. CBD may have several properties that have been scientifically explored and has shown promising results when used topically. Regulation of inflammatory processes and reduced pain-related behaviours were demonstrated in animal models, and pain relief in some human trials.
