After 1 year of age, the milk source changed to fortified milks, and pork entered the top 5 food groups. These foods contributed 59% of daily energy for 12-23 month olds and 52% for 24-35 month olds, showing an increase in dietary diversity as young children transition to more foods of the family table. These core foods, as well as dietary supplements, contributed substantially to the nutrient intakes of young children in China.
