Sugar in the infant’s diet is an essential ingredient, but only as long as it is consumed in appropriate quantities and within prescribed limits. Children who have been detected with obesity and over-weight problems from a very young age have actually been observed to have their health issues rooted in infancy. Following the right feeding practices and avoiding sucrose will contribute in making the child start healthy. It is for this reason that mothers are always advised to breastfeed their newborns as the milk does not contain sucrose or fructose, thus providing the baby with only the essential nutrients necessary for his/her growth.
