Complementary Feeding Practices

Editor(s): Conference Proceedings & Specific Issues 2012

Summary

Breastfeeding is the best option to provide the most adequate nutrition during the first six months of an infant’s life; but thereafter up to two years of age, the baby requires safe, complementary foods along with breastfeeding. Complementary foods during infancy are necessary for the nutritional as well as developmental transition from breast milk to family food. Nestle Nutrition Institute held a workshop in order to make the issues related to complementary feeding more comprehensive. This particular publication consists of the discussions and inferences drawn from the workshop and also provides some guidelines to understand the same even better.
