Renal pathology is a specialized area of histopathology, which requires expertise, experience and passion. There is a heavy dependence on clinical correlation, mandatory special stains, immunofluorescence studies and in certain situations electron microscopy. Medical renal diseases depict a changing spectrum with overlapping clinical and histopathological findings, which underlines the need for good clinico-pathological correlation. It is imperative that the pathologist be aware of clinical features of disease and vice-versa.
