Prominent speakers from Johns Hopkins Medicine USA, Europe, and the Middle East, along with a number of specialists from several national hospitals, including Tawam, and the UAE University, attended, including Dr Ned Lawson, guest speaker from John Hopkins Hospital who presented the ‘Golden Hour of Newborn Life’. The conference was hosted by the Department of Pediatrics at Tawam Hospital, which provides tertiary care to patients from newborn to 15 years of age.This year, in its fifth annual edition, the conference has attracted more than 400 participants, and has increased the interactive elements of the event to include more discussions and workshops on the latest advances in general and sub-specialty pediatric issues, including management of the most common illnesses seen by general pediatricians and practical ways to approach them – such as urinary tract infection, febrile illnesses, sleep disturbances and elevated blood pressure, to the most state-of-the-art innovative therapies such as cardiac and minimally invasive surgeries.
