Leads a large research team focused on discovery science directed towards developing next-generation nutritional interventions in the world’s poorest peoples, especially those in Sub-Saharan Africa. 

Has over 300 peer-reviewed publications with an H-index of 85. 

Has been on numerous national and international advisory bodies and his research has been recognized by a number of national and international science awards.

Current interests: personal current obsessions relate to iron, infection and anemia, and the role of a mother’s peri-conceptional nutrition in modifying the epigenome of her offspring.
