Fighting Geriatric Malnutrition in 2014: Update Your Nutrition Screening Program.

Speaker: Janet Skates, MS, RD, LDN, FADA Presented at: Healthy Aging DPG on March 6, 2014

Malnutrition is a common, but under-recognized problem in older adults that can lead to loss of function, increased morbidity, and death and put organizations at risk. Screening to accurately identify who is at risk is the first line of defense and leads to intervention.  This webinar will discuss the problem of malnutrition in older adults, examine how using a validated screening tool protects the patient and the caregiver, and look at available validated screening tools used with this vulnerable population, including the MNA® and the new Self MNA®.  Finally, we will showcase some of the organizations and programs that have successfully implemented the MNA® in practice – best practices that can be duplicated in your setting.
