Protein Content in Infant Formula: When More is Not Better
Speakers: C. Lifschitz
Presented at: 6th NNI ME Symposium
Carlos Lifschitz presents to us the correlation between high protein infant formula and the benefits of switching to a lower protein infant formula on the risk of later obesity. It has been shown that early fast weight gain in infants is linked to later obesity. Hence, the only known way to decrease the risk of overweight and obesity is preventing excessive weight gain during pregnancy and breastfeeding and, when breastfeeding is not possible the use of a lower protein formula is beneficial.
