Several modifiable risk factors have been associated with increasedrisk of dementia and Alzheimer disease (AD) in observational studies,including vascular, dietary and lifestyle-related factors. However,randomized controlled trials (RCT) are critically needed to confirmthese associations and investigate strategies to maintain cognitivefunctioning and prevent cognitive impairment.
